About Us
Our journey started in 1971 when we purchased our first hunting dog – a German Shorthaired Pointer. After several years of just hunting our dog, we discovered field competition. Our first venture into competition began in 1975 with our first "Greif" bred dog.
In 1980 we purchased our foundation sire, "Paygon’s Spike Von Greif" as a puppy (see picture and pedigree). We acquired our first Tennessee Walking Horse in 1982.
We established J and K Ranch & Kennel in 1983. Our dogs and horses are a family endeavor. We consider them a gift from our family to yours. Over the many years, we have been blessed with friends and customers throughout the United States and Canada, and have made an effort to mentor them as our many mentors have done for us.
Each year we make a trip to the prairie for training and competition. The wide open spaces, and wild birds develop the hunting instincts and range of many a young dog. It is during this trip that we condition both horses and dogs for the upcoming field trials held on the prairies.
It is our goal to provide you with that special German Shorthaired Pointer or gaited horse that will give you and your family many years of fun, memories, success and satisfaction.
